Biographical Info

Acosta was born in San Luis Potosi S.L.P., Mexico. He moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of seventeen and has called OKC his home since. In 2008, He graduated from Santa Fe South High School. He was a recipient of Oklahoma’s Promise Scholarship and Latino Community Development Agency Scholarship Foundation, a scholarship based on academic achievements. With these scholarships and others, he was given an opportunity to attend the University of Central Oklahoma to study Graphic Design.

English is his second language and he struggled to learn the language and it has been and continues to be a significant barrier for him but it does not stop him to reach his goals. In order to do well in his career, he must work extra hard on his projects and homework. During the time in college, he obtained different awards on a local and national level and recognition for his work as a Graphic Designer and also as a Member of the Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Member Active on the Community service (The Regional Food Bank Volunteer) and other Community Services as mentoring little kids.

He is always involved in the community and is inspiring new generations. In 2014, He graduated with a major in Graphic Design and a minor in Illustrator and Spanish. Since his graduation, he has been active showing his work to the community and growing to further his work. He works as a freelance graphic designer, which is his passion, which he demonstrates in every design or piece of art.

During his free time, he does a lot of projects for different organizations such as Global Experiences Foundation. His work helps to define and illustrate the organization’s purpose. He promotes his culture in many of his creations, pictures, and designs. He currently works for the largest Hispanic newspaper in Oklahoma City. El Nacional Media keeps him working on the designs of their newspaper but also taking pictures of community events, where he captures every moment in his pictures for his design work.

As part of the Hispanic community, he likes to be involved with and help different organizations using his talent in designing. Currently he is taking a leadership class with Global Experiences  Foundation where he is working on a project to organize a foundation to help immigrant students who have just arrived to the United States. He plans to name foundation Not Alone.

This year he has been awarded with Mr Fiesta de Las Americas 2017 and also an award for Next Gen Under 30 for his accomplishment in graphic design. He plans to use his position as crowned Mr Fiesta de Las Americas as a platform to motivate and help other generations. He is also active and involved with Dream Act Oklahoma. He is always trying to find a way to help others around him. At his age, he is very active even with his limitations of language. Victor never stops to achieve his goals as a dreamer and a bilingual young professional. At the beginning of 2017, he has begun to create his own small company of designs and t-shirts for his local community. In his designs, he puts his culture and roots. He is an example to always pursue your goals no matter what barrier or limitation.
