Biographical Info
I was born I California in 1953. Later we moved to Houston, Texas where I graduated high school. In 1972, I moved to Bethany Oklahoma to attend Bethany Nazarene College. After college, I decided to remain in Oklahoma. I joined the OKC Police Department in 1979 and retired from the OCPD after 35 years of service. I became involved in the Boy Scouts of America in the mid 1980’s. I raised two sons in scouting serving as Scout Master, District Commissioner and Assistant Council Commissioner. Later I became a Wood Badge instructor for Adult Leadership Scout Training serving in many capacities. It is the highest level of training that an adult Boy Scout leader can take in scouting. It encompasses all leadership skills, including time management, project planning, conflict management, communication and listening skills and team dynamics. It is built around all of the core values found in the scout oath and scout law. I served as Wood Badge Course Director in 2009.
After retiring from the OCPD in 2014, I became involved in Rotary International primarily because of Rotary’s belief in “Service Above Self.” I currently serve as the Rotary Interact club Sponsor for Putnam City North High School Interact Club. I have always believed in working for the rights of others, whether it was defending the rights of victims of crime to supporting young people in their character development through scouting or Rotary Interact Programs. I am also involved in a program called “Reel Recovery.” This program is to help those recovering from cancer. We take them on a three day all-expense paid fly-fishing retreat to lakes all over the area.
