2015 Honorees

At the ceremony held the Oklahoma State Capitol, we recognized the following individuals for Outstanding Human Rights Achievement:

Gonzalo Guaman

Biographical Info

Gonzalo Guaman is a naturalized U.S. citizen, born in Bolivia. He helped to start the Hispanic Soccer League in Oklahoma City. He recognizes the value of organized sports as a tool to promote youth development.

Nominated by Wanda Jo Peltier Stapleton, who writes:

“Human rights are those belonging to each individual. For example, freedom of religion, speech, and the freedom to peaceably assemble – all without interference by the government.
“Gonzalo expresses, supports and exemplifies the meaning of human rights when he faithfully attends a weekly luncheon. He shakes hands with everyone there. This personal attention affirms each person’s humanity, which is worthy of human rights.”
