History

In a blatent disregard for the human rights of all Oklahomans, the Oklahoma legislature, along with an executive order by Governor Mary Fallin, in 2010 dissolved the longstanding Human Rights Commission and other commissions that affect our community’s sense of justice and equality. To fill this void, the Oklahoma Universal Human Rights Alliance was formed.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Oklahoma Universal Human Rights Alliance (OKUHRA) is to be a guardian of liberty for all human beings, working daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties the Constitution and laws of the United States guarantee everyone in this country.

OKUHRA will promote equity for all Humans by working for social justice.

OKUHRA will provide a voice for those whose rights have been violated based on race, gender, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, political affiliation, religious belief or non-belief, and economic status.

OKUHRA will seek to assist these individuals to obtain the justice that is their right.
